We all live busy lives. It’s easy to look at a few photos, imagine what a place will be like, and make a reservation without reviewing the details. However, when planning a trip, taking a moment to understand exactly what you’re booking helps ensure that your expectations match the experience.
Casa Mía is not a conventional hotel, and we have never intended it to be.
We are an Eco Beach Boutique Hotel located within the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve. Every decision we have made, from the design of the building to the services we offer, is guided by a philosophy of respect for nature and responsible tourism.
For this reason, Casa Mía does not have air conditioning. This is not due to a lack of investment or an oversight. It was a conscious decision. The building was designed by architects specializing in bioclimatic architecture to maximize cross-ventilation, natural airflow, shade, and solar orientation. We are proud to demonstrate that comfort can be achieved while minimizing environmental impact.
Likewise, our rooms do not have televisions. The only exception is the Penthouse, which includes a living room, kitchen, separate bedroom, and television. This information is clearly stated on our website and on every platform where Casa Mía is listed.
We have also welcomed guests who arrived expecting a swimming pool, even though we have never published a single photo of one because there simply isn’t one.
That is why we ask one simple favor: please read the property description before booking. Take a moment to review the amenities, photographs, and room features so you can be sure that Casa Mía is the right fit for your stay.
As a boutique hotel with only five rooms, a last-minute cancellation represents a significant loss for us. Unfortunately, we cannot absorb the cost of reservations made based on misunderstandings that could have been avoided by reviewing the available information.
We will always do our best to help guests facing genuinely extraordinary circumstances. However, we cannot accept cancellations based solely on not having read the hotel’s features and amenities.
Casa Mía Is Not for Everyone
We also want to be completely transparent: Casa Mía is not designed for every type of traveler.
If you are looking for a large resort, a beach club, all-day music, bars, nightlife, televisions in every room, air conditioning, or a party atmosphere, you will likely find other accommodations that better match your expectations.
We welcome a different kind of traveler.
Our guests appreciate waking up to the sound of birds, sleeping with open windows and a natural sea breeze, walking for miles along nearly deserted beaches, discovering the biodiversity of a protected nature reserve, enjoying fresh local products, minimizing their environmental footprint, and recognizing that true luxury often comes in the form of silence, space, and nature.
We do not try to appeal to everyone. Instead, we prefer to welcome guests who share our philosophy and appreciate what makes Casa Mía unique.

If it isn’t, that’s perfectly fine too. There are many excellent hotels that offer a different style of vacation.
All we ask is that, before making your reservation, you take a few minutes to read the information carefully. Doing so helps prevent misunderstandings, disappointment, and unnecessary difficulties for everyone.
